Global Leadership Program

Global Leadership Program

Part of what makes YHIMS unique is our specialized Global Leadership Program.
The various components of the program combine to provide students with a holistic understanding and experience of leadership.
Our goal is to provide the skills and experience to inspire and transform our learners into global leaders

Morning Homeroom

We start every school day with mini lessons from the Morning Homeroom Program. Each month focuses on a different topic, including identity, cultural awareness, conflict resolution, public speaking, and much more. These topics expose students to diverse ways of thinking so that they gain a unique perspective not often available to kids their age in South Korea. It also challenges students to think outside of the material they usually learn in the classroom and pushes them to use English in a different context.

Model UN

YHIMS also offers a Model United Nations intensive during winter vacation. Model UN is an educational simulation where students role-play as delegates from countries around the globe. Participating students broaden their perspective by using parliamentary procedure to debate real-world issues. Model UN also builds a variety of skills, including but not limited to public speaking, research, teamwork, and debate.

Global Leadership Program

Other initiatives we offer as part of the Global Leadership Program include the Global Citizenship Program, a collaboration with AIESEC SNU that connects students to cross-cultural internships and volunteer opportunities, and School Meets World, which recruits world leaders and international organizations to be guest speakers at school. Past speakers include representatives from UNESCO, the Australian Embassy, and the Hungarian Embassy. YHIMS also operates local English camps in partnership with the Gangbuk-gu Education Office, including a mentorship program where our students provide guidance and advice to elementary school students.
